This is a partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) grade 2488, produced by HOPEWAY CHEMICAL. With a degree of polymerization of approximately 2400 and hydrolysis of 87–89%, it dissolves rapidly in cold water and is a primary binder for interior wall putty, tile adhesive, and waterproof mortar. It improves adhesion, water resistance, and crack resistance in cement-based formulations. Our PVA 2488 has been supplied to a Brazilian construction chemical distributor for over two years, achieving a 60% reduction in terminal product return rate due to reduced delamination and powdering.

This product is available under the model PVA 2488. For construction applications, we also offer PVA 1788. Custom mesh sizes (80–200 mesh) and packaging options are available to suit your production line.
PVA is manufactured by alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate (PVAc). It is a water-soluble polymer in white powder/flake form with excellent film-forming and adhesion properties.
We offer adjustable mesh size (80–200 mesh) to match automatic feeding lines, as well as custom packaging. Our technical team provides formulation guidance and remote online support to optimize your specific application.
Brazilian Construction Chemical Distributor: A local distributor in Brazil has been using PVA 2488 and 1788 for over two years to produce interior wall putty and repair mortar. The uniform particle size ensures fast dissolution without agglomeration, improving production efficiency. The adhesion, water resistance, and crack resistance of the putty comply with local NBR standards, reducing the return rate by over 60%. Customized 80–200 mesh sizes and complete export documentation supported smooth customs clearance.
Both are partially hydrolyzed, but PVA 2488 has a higher viscosity (44-55 mPa·s) and degree of polymerization (~2400) compared to PVA 1788. PVA 2488 is often preferred for applications requiring higher adhesion and thickening.
It is cold water soluble, but for faster dissolution, it is recommended to add PVA powder slowly to water with gentle stirring to avoid clumping. Heating can speed up dissolution, but high temperatures should be avoided.
